Houston-based Latin/pop singer-songwriter, Stefani Vara, shared her pics with us of when she worked with Rebuilding Together in New Orleans, LA, during Super Bowl Weekend. She talks all about it in this month’s Cool Cause interview. She even mentioned her Rebuilding Together Volunteer Captain, Hannah (yellow shirt)!
Unbeknownst to us, Rebuilding Together announced their National Rebuilding Month for April. (It’s true because we saw it on their FB Page.) It was just synergy that Stefani chose to feature them and that we posted the interview this month! Go figure!

Listen to “Mentira” by Stefani Vara. It’s the latest song from the H-Town Latin/pop singer-songwriter. She presents our April 2013 Cool Cause at Urb’l Remedy that went live on the first of the month. It features Rebuilding Together.

urban cool style: Remedy or Relapse - Grammys 2013 MEN Edition! +++Almost, but not quite there+++
Covered the women a few weeks back at the main site. Check that out here. This is a little late in coming, but, better lat than never. Now, for the men! Because of the tumblr. formatting, this will be presented in 3 parts. This is Part 3 of 3.
Almost, but not quite there
Chris Brown — When I was first putting these lists together, I was on the fence about this look. That’s why it’s here, but looking at it again today, it looks good. It’s so fresh and so clean. So, so clean down to the boots. The black belt is a nice choice (instead of white). It adds a nice balance to the whole suit with the color also present in the buttons of the jacket and the lining of the shoes. Consider it a BONUS look for the urban cool style Remedies list.
Nas — I actually like this a lot. I like the copper, the chain, and the bow tie. I just think it needed to be more fitted so it would look more put together. It looks one size to big for Nas and the bow tie is crooked.
Drake — It’s not bad. It’s just has no oomph to it. He blends in like a penguin in a waddle. Instead, he should be standing out.
Frank Ocean — It reminds me of something I would have worn in 8th grade or high school. Don’t get me wrong, I wear a version of it now (in a different color). Like Drake’s, it just needs more oomph. Maybe a turtleneck, instead. Maybe a different cut to the jacket. Something with a collar. I’m not mad at the color, though.

urban cool style Relapses
To all three of these gentlemen, I gotta’ say, step it up! This is the Grammys!
The Dream — Too much going on, but not enough drama, at the same time, if you get my meaning. Not dressed for the occasion at all. None of these items are bad in and of themselves. They’d work with other outfits for other occasions, but not all together and not for the Grammys.
RedFoo of LMFAO — I understand it’s part of his schtick, but he could present a version of himself that is still the essence of him, yet appropriate for the Grammys. Nothing wrong with being eccentric, fun, ironic, and/or over-the-top, but there’s a thin line between costume and fashion/style. If done well, it works. He’s on the costume side of the line and it doesn’t work.
deadmau5 (pictured with fiancee, Kat Von D) — There’s just no effort whatsoever. There’s a bit of of hope of some creativity with the two different colored shoes. I actually like the idea of it, but the execution doesn’t work for me and it doesn’t make sense in the context of the whole outfit. I think this would be fine for his casual day-to-day life, but. again, not for the Grammys.
Listen to this BONUS song by ATX green-eyed soul-pop balladeer, Andy Units. It’s called “If We Stay Too Long” and it’s one of the songs from his upcoming EP, the New Sincerity. He’s the focus of the March 2013 LOTTO Interview at Urb’l Remedy! Check out that interview here. Listen to another Andy Units song, “Goodbye,” there.

Jack Antonoff of Fun. — Really liked that they matched with the skinny suits, medium waters, no socks, and similar shoes. Jack, though, takes it with a look that works from head to toe. The hair, the glasses, the plaid (or is it a checkered pattern?), the style and color of shoe and skinny tie. Just the color palette overall. I like it so much, I would rock this look.
John Legend (pictured with Chrissy Teigan) — Just flawless and effortless. Fits well. Looks good. It’s not black, so it stands out. Simple elegance. The fact that it looks like blue denim is a plus for me.
Sting (pictured with wife, Trudie Styler) — A nice balance of rock and roll and age appropriateness. Loving the scarf. Greys and silvers are colors I like to play with in my outfits sometimes, so that resonates for me. He looks like a stately punk. Or a punky statesman. And, in my book, that’s a good thing!
